Troubleshooting

Problem: When you try to load Editor’s ToolKit as a global template or add-in, you get the Convert File dialog, asking you to select a kind of text for conversion.

Solution: You’re trying to load the wrong version of Editor’s ToolKit for your version of Microsoft Word. To get the correct version, please download it from the Editorium at www.editorium.com.

Problem: When you try to load Editor’s ToolKit as a global template or add-in, the status bar says, “Translating macros” and shows Word’s progress as it translates the macros in Editor’s ToolKit. When it’s finished, the program’s toolbars are all messed up.

Solution: You’re trying to load the wrong version of Editor’s ToolKit for your version of Microsoft Word. To get the correct version, please download it from the Editorium at www.editorium.com.

Problem: Microsoft Word crashes at some point when you’re using such batch features as “Prepare Documents for Editing” or “Finish Edited Documents.”

Solution: Some of your documents may be corrupt. You can identify a document that caused the crash by reading its name in the bar at the top of the Word window when the program crashes. If possible, open the document, copy all of its text, and paste the text into a new document. If you have a number of corrupt documents, you may be able to use the “Add Documents” feature in Editor’s ToolKit to pull them all into one new document. Then you can use the “Split Document” feature to break the new document into new, separate files.

Problem: When you use the “Prepare Documents for Editing” feature, running FileCleaner isn’t included as one of the options.

Solution: Load the FileCleaner program into Microsoft Word as a global template or add-in. If you don’t have the FileCleaner program, you can obtain it from the Editorium at www.editorium.com.

Problem: When you use the “Finish Edited Documents” feature, FileCleaner, NoteStripper, and QuarkConverter aren’t displayed as options.

Solution: Load the FileCleaner, NoteStripper, and QuarkConverter programs into Microsoft Word as global templates or add-ins. If you don’t have these programs, you can obtain them from the Editorium at www.editorium.com.

Problem: When you use the “Finish Edited Documents” feature, FileCleaner, NoteStripper, or QuarkConverter is grayed out and not available as an option.

Solution: Load the FileCleaner, NoteStripper, and QuarkConverter programs into Microsoft Word as global templates or add-ins. If you don’t have these programs, you can obtain them from the Editorium at www.editorium.com.
